Trade talks between Canada and the United States collapsed on Friday, and the fallout has landed squarely on Regina’s doorstep. The United States has imposed a new 50% tariff on roughly $28B of Canadian goods, covering dairy, alcohol, and hundreds of manufacturing and consumer products. Canada will respond with matching dollar-for-dollar tariffs starting September 8, backed by a $7.5B support package for affected workers and businesses.
