Virtual Conference Gives Regina’s Tourism Sector a Critical Opportunity to ‘collaborate and Connect’

(Regina) Tourism Regina’s third annual Collaborate and Connect conference is back. Different, but the same. While the conference has been moved to a virtual format, attendees will still have a chance to hear experts speak on trends and best practices affecting the sector, exchange knowledge and help regimagine Regina’s destination experience.

Tourism Regina Director Ashley Stone says that while the conference has always focused on education and networking, the 2020 edition is particularly important. “We all know the profound affect COVID-19 has had on the tourism and hospitality sector,” Stone said. “Now more than ever, it’s important to come together, share a few battle scars and plot a course through this difficult time.”

The conference will be held on Thursday, November 19, starting at 8:30 a.m. Attendees will hear from speakers on key topics, enjoy a working lunch prepared and delivered by Regina’s Local and Fresh Market, and have an opportunity to network.

Highlights include:

  • Presentation from: Dr. Nancy Arsenault, The Tourism Café
  • Presentation from: Trevor Benson, Vice President, Destination Development, The Culinary Tourism Alliance

The event also includes a moderated networking session where attendees will have an opportunity to participate in discussions on several key topics.

“Tourism is an essential industry in Regina and around the world, and while a lot has changed, we have a lot to be proud of – and even more to look forward to,” Economic Development Regina President and CEO John Lee said. “In a ‘normal’ year, events like Collaborate and Connect help to advance our industry. In a year like this, when we’re all experiencing a new normal, they can have a huge positive impact on the future of our businesses.”
