Krugofest returns for a second year: canadian acts headline covid-safe rooftop concert series

Following a safe, successful debut in 2020, KrugoFest is back for another year. The summer rooftop concert series will feature great Canadian artists, fantastic food, and warm Saskatchewan summer nights.

KrugoFest will once again be set on the parkade rooftop of Regina’s Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. Attendees will get the VIP treatment, viewing the stage from their own room on the north side of the hotel with a private balcony that overlooks the rooftop stage.

The event will run over two weekends in July. Headliners include:

Friday, July 9, 2021:                    Gord Bamford

Saturday, July 10, 2021:              he Sheepdogs

Friday, July 16, 2021:                   Doc Walker

Saturday, July 17, 2021:               Big Wreck

“It’s been a challenging year for Regina’s event sector, and while the light is at the end of the tunnel, we’ve still had cancellations and postponements in our summer concert season,” Tourism Regina Chief Tourism and Visitor Growth Officer, Chelsea Galloway said. “We’re excited to join Krugo and Regina Food Bank to help get us to the other side. This is a great opportunity to get out, celebrate summer, and safely enjoy some great music.”

Organizers credit a broad collaboration among entertainers, community partners, sponsors, health officials, and concertgoers for last year’s highly successful event and are looking forward to more of the same.

“KrugoFest started as a big idea on Twitter and grew into a major event experience for Regina, thanks to the support of this community,” Krugo CEO, Kirk Morrison said. “We’re bringing people together to enjoy some of Canada’s best musical talent while helping Regina Food Bank feed children and adults in our community.”

While last’s year’s event delivered first-class entertainment, it also helped thousands of local families through the Regina Food Bank. Organizers are hoping for an even greater impact this time around.

“We’re thrilled that KrugoFest is returning! Feeding our neighbors and injecting excitement and live-music back into our community is a win-win,” Regina Food Bank Vice-President – Community, David Froh said. “Last year KrugoFest raised 45,000 meals for Regina Food Bank and this year our goal is to see that number grow to 90,000 meals.”

The concert’s presenting sponsor, Jump.ca, Saskatchewan’s largest SaskTel Authorized Dealer, is back for another year.

“KrugoFest was a major success story in a difficult time last year.” Jump.ca Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Kris Parker said. “Jump.ca is proud to have been along for the ride right from the beginning, helping to deliver amazing experiences for concert-goers – and much needed support for families through Regina Food Bank.”

KrugoFest is a key component of a broader short-term recovery plan for Regina’s Tourism and Hospitality sector. While still being finalized, the plan is the result of hard work from key industry stakeholders and will be formally announced in the coming weeks.
