Economic Development Regina today welcomed Tina Beaudry-Mellor as its new Chief Economic Growth Officer. Beaudry-Mellor brings a commitment to excellence and a passion for community that will serve EDR, its partners and all of Regina well into the future.
“This is an audacious hire for EDR, and we’re excited to welcome Tina to the fold,” EDR President and CEO John Lee said. “Tina’s knowledge, energy and enthusiasm will be a huge asset for us – and our city.
“Regina has long been considered a hidden gem, and we’re excited to roll up our sleeves and show the world what we’ve always known,” Lee added.
Beaudry-Mellor is a thought leader, strategist and champion. She is Saskatchewan’s former Minister of Advanced Education, Minister of Innovation Saskatchewan and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women. While in that role, she spearheaded many key initiatives including the Saskatchewan Technology StartUp Incentive, the most aggressive angel investment tax credit in Western Canada. She also authored the Ag-Tech Growth Fund to help boost Saskatchewan’s niche market for agricultural tech companies.
Beaudry-Mellor will lead EDR’s Agriculture and Technology and Investment Attraction strategies. She will also oversee EDR’s entrepreneurship and economic gardening strategies, including Regina’s award-winning AudacityYQR movement. Her background puts her in an ideal position to identify, validate and capture growth opportunities for Regina’s economy and her extensive record of collaboration complements EDR’s work as a catalyst and connector for Regina’s economy.
“I’m very excited to work with a dynamic team and a great group of stakeholders to do work that I am so passionate about: growing our entrepreneurial ecosystem and building our niche in ag-tech and food processing,” Beaudry-Mellor said. “Our team will help build opportunities for not only our economic recovery, but for the next generation to choose Regina as the place to work, study and play.”
